font size

Southwest China's Yunnan Province transmitted 128.6 million kilowatt hours (kwh) of electricity to Vietnam in the first five months this year, according to the Customs of Kunming, capital of Yunnan, on Monday.

Yunnan has launched two projects to transmit electric power to Vietnam. The first one, with a capacity of 52,000 kilowatts, linking the Hekou of the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture with Lao Cai of Vietnam, went into operation in September last year. The second electricity transmission project, linking Wenshan Miao and Zhuang Autonomous Prefecture with Har Giang of Vietnam, became operational in June this year. The second project has an installed capacity of up to 110,000 kilowatts.

It is predicted that the capacity of projects Yunnan launches to transmit electricity to Vietnam will reach one million kilowatts by 2010.
