Chinese defense minister meets ROK air force chief

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met in Beijing on July 18 with Lee Han Ho, chief of staffs of the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF).

Cao, also vice-chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission and state councilor, accentuated the traditional friendly relations between China and the ROK during the meeting, especially since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992.

Meanwhile, Cao praised the military ties between the two countries, saying that they have developed a "good momentum."

"China is willing to make joint efforts with the ROK to continue enhancing exchanges and cooperation in every field and making the friendly relations headway," Cao said.

While stressing that the ROK and China share a common interest in keeping peace, stability and prosperity in the region, Lee said he hoped the two countries, the two armies, especially the two air forces, can further deepen exchanges and cooperation.

Lee is here at the invitation of Qiao Qingchen, commander of the PLA (People's Liberation Army) Air Force.
