US wants to see progress in upcoming six-party talks
font size

The United States reiterated on Monday that it wants to see progress at the upcoming six-party talks scheduled to be resumed at the week of July 25.

"What we have talked about is we need to, and we want to see progress at this round of talks," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a news briefing.

Noting the United States has been doing intensive diplomatic preparations with other members of the six-party talks, McCormack said, "we're prepared to sit down, roll up our sleeves ... our focus is on this round of talks and doing what we can to see that it will be a success."

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has agreed to return to the six-party talks in the week of July 25. The talks were stalled after the third round of talks held in June last year.

The United States has time and again urged the DPRK to engage in the six-party talks "in a constructive manner" and give up its nuclear weapons.
