Logo of Palace Museum unveiled
To mark the 80th founding anniversary of the Museum in 2005, the Palace Museum has solicited designs for the logo from public from May 2004, but no design is selected finally. So it invited a Beijing company to design the logo. The new logo resembles the Chinese character "palace". The "point" on the top of the logo derives from images of "sea tide" and Jade Bi (ritual disc), embodying long-lasting auspiciousness. The Jade Bi above seawater symbolizes more than one mln pieces of precious cultural relics kept in the Palace Museum. The two Chinese characters "kou" in the logo illustrate the traditional architectural concept "outer palace and inner court" in the palace. The "kou" at the bottom is not enclosed, meaning the former Imperial Palace is closed, but today's Palace Museum is open. By People's Daily Online | ||
