A top Chinese military officer said in Beijing Tuesday that China is ready to step up friendly cooperation with the Vietnamese armed forces in a bid to promote comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
Liang Guanglie, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), made the remark during a meeting with Phung Quang Thanh, chief of General Staff of the Vietnamese People's Army.
Liang, also member of the Chinese Central Military Commission, said the China-Vietnam relations have developed well in recent years with increased mutual trust and strengthened military exchanges under the guideline of "a long-term stability, looking to the future, good neighborly friendship and all-round collaboration".
"The PLA will continue its efforts to cement cooperation with the Vietnamese People's Army so as to further boost the relationship between the two countries," Liang said.
Phung, who arrived here Monday, spoke highly of the development of the relations between the two nations and the two armed forces. Vietnam attaches great importance to cooperation with the Chinese armed forces and hopes to further enhance mutual trust and deepen cooperation through the current visit, Phung said.
