Southwest China's Chongqing municipality will hold the second Three Gorges investment fair on September 26.
Yu Yuanmu, vice mayor of Chongqing, said on a press conference that the fair is held to promote the economic development in 15 districts and counties in the Three Gorges area and to create more job opportunities for the immigrants relocated for the Three Gorges project.
The fair, cosponsored by the Three Gorges Office of the State Council and Chongqing Municipal Government, is expected to attract investment from China's developed provinces and cities along the coastal areas, said Yu.
The first investment fair was held in July 2004, during which 62 projects worth 19.9 billion yuan (about 2.4 billion US dollars) were signed.
