Japanese ship company books China's Capesize bulk carrier

K-Line, a Japanese ship company and one of the top ten ship companies in the world, has booked a 177,000-ton Capesize bulk carrier from China.

According to a contract signed here Wednesday between China State Shipbuilding Corp. (CSSC) and the Japanese ship company, the bulk carrier will be delivered in the latter half of 2008.

The 177,000-ton Capesize bulk carrier, designed and built in China, is the largest bulk carrier that China ever built, and is also the largest of its kind in the world.

Since it was invented last November, the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company under the CSSC, has received nine construction orders, thus becoming a "world center of building Capesize bulk carrier."

This shows that China's shipbuilding ability has greatly improved, said Chen Xiaojin, general manager of the CSSC.
