Members of the Association of Southeast Asian nations (ASEAN) have become the largest tourist sources to south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said Ma Rong, deputy secretary general of the Guangxi Tourism Association.
As of June 30, more than 300,000 foreign tourists visited Guangxi, accounting for 57.9 percent of the total.
The top ten tourist resource countries were Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan,the Republic of Korea, the United States, Thailand, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Australia, said Ma.
Among the tourist source countries, he said, ASEAN nations maintained the strongest momentum. Tourists from Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand surpassed 150,000 during the first half of this year, more than those from Hong Kong and Macao.
