China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles has raised an alarm to the whole sector, calling on Chinese textile enterprises to halt further export of 6 categories under the US restriction.
The latest data released by the US customs authority showed the US customs has been closed to Chinese cotton knit shirts (338/9) and cotton/MMF underwear (352/652) on July 5, cotton trousers( 347/8) on July 8. By July 13, 97.89 percent of MMF knit shirts (638/9) had been filled and would face closed door soon.
According to the latest data collected by the Chinese customs on limited categories, by July 12, shipment of 338/9, 347/8, 352/652, 638/9 had reached 132.6 percent, 132.28 percent, 109.36 percent and 140.08 percent of the limits respectively. This means a considerable quantity of on-route or even arrived goods under the four categories will not be admitted into the US market. The real situation is likely to become even worse if transit trade is taken into account.
As learned by July 12, shipment of MMF trousers (647/8), cotton/MMF mens woven shirts (340/640) had reached 87.38 percent and 84.56 percent of the limits respectively, indicating tremendous risk for further shipment.
In light of this, China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles issued an urgent notice to call on textile producers to halt immediately further shipment of the above six categories.
