Vietnamese president visits Guangdong

Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong arrived in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, to continue his five-day state visit to China on July 20.

He visited a cemetery burying a Vietnamese martyr who had died in Guangzhou in 1924 as well as the site of a Vietnamese youth community where former Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh had lived.

Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua met with Luong Wednesday evening. Huang briefed the guests on Guangdong's development.

Huang said Guangdong, as a province with vigorous foreign trade, is expected to have closer economic link with Vietnam.

Luong said Vietnam has worked for developing economy and improving people's living standard and hoped to further economic and trade cooperation with Guangdong.

Luong will head for Shenzhen Thursday to continue his tour.
