The Coca-Cola Co. reported on Thursday that its profit in the second quarter increased by 9 percent based on solid gains in revenue.
The Atlanta-based company, the world's largest beverage maker, reported that it earned 1.72 billion dollars in the April-June quarter, compared to a profit of 1.58 billion dollars in the same period a year ago.
Revenue in the quarter reached 6.31 billion dollars, an increase of 7 percent from the 5.91 billion dollars recorded in the same three-month period a year ago.
For the first six months of the year, Coca-Cola earned 2.73 billion dollars, compared to a profit of 2.71 billion dollars in the same quarter of 2004. Revenue in the first six months was 11. 52 billion dollars, a 5 percent increase from the 10.94 billion dollars recorded in the same period a year ago.
