font size

Singapore supports the peaceful re-emergence of China, Singapore's Foreign Minister George Yeo said at the opening of an exhibition on Chinese culture in Singapore on Friday.

"The peaceful re-emergence of a new China is a challenge which Singapore, in our own enlightened self-interest, supports wholeheartedly," Yeo said.

Calling the re-emergence of China an epochal event, Yeo noted that all the other major powers in the world have to adjust to an increasingly strong and prosperous China.

To ensure peace and prosperity resulting from the rise of China,Yeo said, both China and these major powers need to apply great wisdom.
