Italian wins stage, Martin closes to win Tour of Qinghai Lake

Agnoli Valerio led Naturino-Sapore Di Mare to win the eighth mountain stage at the fourth Tour of Qinghai Lake cycling race, collecting the fourth stage for the Swish team in the past eight stages on Saturday.

Valerio broke away from the first seven-rider group to touch the line clocking 3 hours 55 minutes 16 seconds over a 162-kilometer run which started in Xunhua county and ended in Xining city.

Kazakhstan rider Bazayev Assan and South African Cox Ryan finished second and third with the same time with stage winner.

Czech rider from ED'System ZVVZ Mares Martin took grip of his overall lead over Kazakhstan Baigudinov Kairat with 1 minute 38 seconds superior, closing to the race yellow jersey.

The stage winner came up to the third place with his teammate Simeoni Filippo falling to the fourth.

Naturino-Sapore Di Mare led the team ranking with a total 78 hours 42 minutes and 26 seconds, 3 minutes 43 seconds ahead of Asia's best team Kazakhstan National team, while Giant Asia representing Chinese Taipei came in third 21 minutes 34 seconds behind the lead.

The nine-day Tour of Qinghai Lake comes to an end on Sunday with the last stage covering 151 kilometers.
