Jiangsu foreign trade exceeds US$100bJiangsu Province, an economic engine in East China, reported US$103.56 billion in foreign trade in the first half of this year, up 35.7 percent year-on-year. Jiangsu ranked second in the nation in terms of import and export value in the first six months. Local customs said Jiangsu's total foreign trade value included US$55.2 billion in export, up 46.8 percent; and US$48.4 billion in import, up 24.9 percent. From January to June, Jiangsu's foreign trade with its top five trade partners, namely the European Union, Japan, the United States, the Republic of Korea and China's Taiwan Province, totaled US$72.83 billion, or 70.3 percent of its total foreign trade value, up 34.1 percent year-on-year. Major products for export included electric and machinery products, valued at US$36.96 billion, up 48.9 percent, and new- and high-tech products, valued at US$23.16 billion, up 54.8 percent, according to local customs.
