60th anniversary of China's victory over Japanese aggressors marked in JapanMore than 300 Japanese and Chinese scholars, academicians and students met in Tokyo on July 25 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of China's victory over the Japanese aggressors and the victory of World War II (WWII). At the movie reception sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Japan, Chinese Ambassador Wang Yi stressed that the history, which provides enlightenment to people living today, can not be forgotten, blenched or distorted. Calling China's 14-year fight against Japanese aggressors an important part of the international anti-fascism efforts during WWII, the ambassador said the Chinese people cherish and will continue to make contribution to world peace and prosperity. The participants watched a documentary about Japanese aggressive army's germ warfare on Chinese people during the war. The documentary, a prelude of a series of commemorative activities on the issue, records the germ warfare's severe damage to Chinese people and reveals Japanese militarists' atrocities in China. "It reflects people's obligation on history, hate on aggression and aspiration for peace," Wang said, calling for more Japanese, especially young people, to watch the film for better study on the history. He urged the Japanese government to take effective actions to correctly treat history issues. Kainan Youko, director of the documentary "Tears from Distressful Earth," said she was determined to shoot the film when she witnessed suffering of Chinese victims of Japan's germ warfare while taking a tour in China. "I am responsible to record what I saw there and hope everyone in my country learn to know the true history from the documentary, " she added. Source: Xinhua |
