The large-scale registering and data processing work of the first national economic census has almost been completed. It has entered the phase of harvesting, said Li Deshui, Director of National Bureau of Statistics on July 26.
Including a huge number of economic and political information, the statistics of this economic census will be gradually released to China and abroad as from September.
Scientific research organizations, universities and colleges, etc., will be organized in the way of oriented bidding to carry out researches on major projects after the release of the statistics, according to Li Deshui. The emphases of the analysis and application of the census materials are to offer detailed basic materials for the 11th Five-Year Plan, to further research the current status of the national economy, and to offer reference to the government's macrocosmic policy-making. According to Li Deshui, they would also work out and offer related information according to the needs of the public, especially the industrial and commercial enterprises. At the same time, they would also combine the economic census statistics with the electronic geographical information to form China's economic geographical information system.
