Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region registered 3.03 billion US dollars in foreign trade in the first half of the year, up 13.8 percent year-on-year, according to the customs of this capital city of Xinjiang.
Exports reached nearly 1.66 billion US dollars in the first six months, up 44 percent over the same period last year while the imports dropped by 9.1 percent to stand at nearly 1.38 billion US dollars in the same period.
Kazakhstan remained the biggest trade partner of Xinjiang, with bilateral trade volume increasing by 17.4 percent year-on-year to hit 1.88 billion US dollars, accounting for 65 percent of China's total trade volume with the country.
Xinjiang's other main trade partners include Kyrgyzstan, Russia, the European Union and the United States.
Affected by the changes of the policies in textile exports, the total value of Xinjiang's clothing exports reached 350 million US dollars, down 7.1 percent over the same period last year.
