Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing left Yangon on the evening of July 28 for Beijing after concluding his 24-hour official visit to Myanmar.
During his short stay in Yangon, Li met with Chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) Senior-General Than Shwe and Prime Minister General Soe Win separately.
Both sides expressed wishes to further develop the traditional friendship and economic and trade cooperative ties between the two countries.
Myanmar leaders stressed that their country attaches great importance to its relations with China, while Li expressed China's wishes to jointly strive with the Myanmar side to consolidate the traditional friendship and deepen the cooperation in the economic and trade sectors to raise the Sino-Myanmar relations to a new high.
Both sides also pledged to enhance their economic and trade relations and cooperation in accordance with the consensus reached between leaders of the two countries.
The two sides also exchanged views on important international and regional issues.
Li arrived here on Wednesday evening for the visit from Vientiane, Laos, after attending meetings of foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and its dialogue partners, and visiting Laos.
