South-to-North water diversion to cross the Yellow River in August

The project of crossing the Yellow River of the middle-route South-to-North Water Diversion is to be launched in August this year. Now, the preparations have entered the counting down period.

This is a key project of the middle-route construction of the South-to-North Water Diversion program, as well as the first one launched in Henan Province of the first phase of middle-route construction. The project is located 30 kilometers away to the west of Zhengzhou, with a total length of 19.3 kilometers. The construction covers an area of 10,262 mu, with 386 people relocated.

The National Development and Reform Commission approved the tunnel scheme in the project of crossing the Yellow River in November 2004. The tunnel project is about 3.5 kilometers in total length, with a designed discharge amount of 265 cubic meters per second and an increased discharge amount of 320 cubic meters per second. The construction period takes 51 months with a static investment of about 3.1 billion yuan.
