HK official urges WTO members to show serious leadership
font size

Hong Kong official urged all World Trade Organization (WTO) member economies to show serious leadership to make the sixth Ministerial Conference successful, according to a Hong Kong government press release Friday.

"What is needed now is serious political leadership on the part of all our governments, and determined work on the part of all our representatives here in Geneva. When the Geneva process resumes in full gear after the summer, it will be a time for constructive bridge-building," said John Tsang, Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology when attending the WTO General Council meeting in Geneva.

He hoped the sixth Ministerial Conference, which is due in December in Hong Kong, would be a milestone on road to the successful conclusion of the Doha Round.
