The central government will launch a five-year training program nationwide to help transient laborers from rural areas find a job in manufacturing and service industries, according to the Ministry of Education.
Currently, 120 million transient laborers from the countryside are working in manufacturing and service industries, accounting for more than half of the total. Each year, an increasing of 6 million farmers pour into cities annually.
Among them, 85 percent or more only have an educational background of junior middle school or even lower. Eighty percent of them have never receive professional training.
Twenty million rural laborers are expected to receive career training every year.
A flexible time-table is to be adopted for the training program to make it possible for migrant workers to enjoy the part-time study and part-time work program.
