Kenya Bodybuilding Federation (KBBF) has named a six-man squad to start preparation for the Mr. Universe championship to be held in Hong Kong, China in November, local media reported on Thursday.
Some of the top musclemen named in the team include newly crowned Mr. Kenya champion, light-heavyweight Leonard 'Lee' Lihanda and Mr. Tembo reigning champion, middleweight Fredrik 'Sergio' Okoth, according to local newspaper Kenya Times' report.
Others in the squad are Meshack Ochieng (Bantamweight), William 'Man Man' Cassidy (Welterweight) and Fredrick Sanya (Heavyweight).
KBBF chairman, Salim Kilanga said the team will soon embark on intensive preparations under the guidance under a trainer to be named later.
Kilanga said the selection of the team was based on the individual performance of the musclemen during the recently concluded Blue Triangle Mr. Kenya championship held in Nairobi.
The tournament saw Lihanda emerged the best overall.
Kilanga said the federation will give the necessary assistance to the team in its endeavor to have the musclemen excel in Hong Kong.
He has a lot of confidence in those selected and urged them to strive for good results in the high profile tournament.
