A Suicide tanker bomb blew up at a police headquarters in Tikrit, north of Baghdad, on Sunday, killing two people and wounding 10 others, police said.
"A suicide bomber drove a booby-trapped mini fuel tanker and hit the outer fence of the headquarters of the 2nd police Battalion in Tikrit," police source from Tikrit told Xinhua.
The attack killed two people and wounded ten others, according to initial reports, the source said.
Police vehicles and ambulances raced to evacuate the casualties to Tikrit Hospital, as US troops and Iraqi security forces cordoned off the scene, he added.
Earlier in the day, unknown gunmen killed two employees of the Iraqi Oil Ministry and wounded three others by opening fire on their vehicle in southeastern Baghdad, police said.
"Armed men assassinated oil ministry employees Sunday morning in Baghdad al-Jadida neighborhood as they were heading to their work,"
an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Insurgents have frequently attacked Iraqi police and army forces as well as government employees in an attempt to cripple the Shiite-dominated government formed in late April.
