Matsa brings rainstorms to capital
font size

Due to influence of the ninth typhoon Matsa, Beijing will experience a rainstorm from wee hours of Aug 8 to Aug 9. The average rainfall will exceed 60 millimeters, and the rainfall in mountain regions will exceed 100 millimeters. This will be the strongest rainstorm in recent years and the first typhoon to hit Beijing since 1994.

The ninth typhoon Matsa landed the Yuhuan county of Zhejiang province on Aug 6. It has swept Zhejiang, Shanghai and Shangdong in these days, causing huge losses in these places.

The latest weather forecast shows Matsa has downgraded into a tropical storm and is moving northwards. The center of the typhoon will bring rainstorms to the capital.
