China's export of finished sedan cars (including CKD) grew rapidly during the first six months of this year, with the total number hitting a record of 9,600, 183 percent higher over the same period of the previous year, according to latest statistics from the Department of Import and Export of Electromechanical Products, the Ministry of Commerce. Most exported cars are self-developed economical models such as Chery, Xiali, Geely and Lobo.
Customs statistics show that during the first half 3,357 Chery cars were exported with their value totaling 16.45 million US dollars, a growth of 117.8 percent and 104.4 percent respectively. The average price for a Chery was 4,900 dollars, slightly lower than during the first half of last year.
China First Automobile Group Import & Export Corporation exported 2,002 Xiali cars and realized batch exports. Geely Group saw a three-time increase in both the number and value of exported cars and is expecting to break a record of 10,000 exports over the whole year.
Hafei Motor exported 558 cars during the first half and Shanghai Volkswagen 285 cars. Other auto producers also registered a certain number of exports.
