Spokesman: Taiwan leader will reap what he has sown
font size

A Chinese government spokesman said Tuesday the leader of the Taiwan authorities will eventually "reap what he has sown" if he keeps advocating "Taiwan independence".

The spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council made the remarks when commenting on a speech made by the Taiwan leader Saturday at a meeting of a "Taiwan independence" organization.

"Easing, improving and developing relations across the Taiwan Strait now conforms to the expectations of Taiwan compatriots, the mainstream of public opinion on both sides of the strait and the common interests of the international community," said the spokesman.

Under such circumstances,he said, the leader of the Taiwan authorities still sticks obstinately to his 'Taiwan independence' stance and keeps advocating secessionist 'Taiwan independence' and purposely restricts economic and other exchanges across the strait.

"He has even wantonly slandered the mainland to stir up confrontation and further impair relations across the strait," said the spokesman.

He said such acts run counter to the mainstream of public opinion on both sides and the trend of development.

"He will only make himself more isolated and put himself in a more difficult situation. He will eventually reap what he has sown," the spokesman said.
