Indian Navy to hold joint exercises with US, Russia, France

The Indian Navy will carry out bilateral exercises with the US, French and Russian navies during September- November this year, Indian Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in the Parliament Wednesday.

Nuclear powered submarines of the US and French navies and the aircraft carrier of the Russian navy are likely to be part of their forces in these exercises, Mukherjee said.

Mukherjee also said that India has received an informal suggestion from the United States to post Indian military officers at its (United States) Central Command and Pacific Command headquarters in order to promote closer military relations and cooperation.

The Indian minister also informed the Parliament that contract worth 11. 88 billion rupees have been concluded with Israeli companies during last three years for the purchase of military hardware, equipment and ammunition.
