Senior Chinese leader Li Changchun Monday spoke highly of a Tibet photo show in Beijing, saying it helps people of other countries to know Tibet.

"Over the past 40 years since the Tibet Autonomous Region was established, Tibet has made tremendous economic and social achievements," said Li, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

""The photo show plays a very positive role in helping people, especially people of other countries, to know Tibet," he said during a visit to the show.

These photos are taken by 100 renowned photographers from 19 foreign countries, including the United States, Britain, France and Germany, and China's mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. They are about the vast landscape, colorful life styles, the outstanding culture as well as the big changes in Tibet.

Li asked relevant departments to do more work to present the photo show, now in the Cultural Palace of Nationalities, to the world.

He also asked China's cultural workers to pay more attention to Tibet and use modern means of the media to introduce the new outlook and changes of Tibet to people in other parts of the world.
