About 10,000 to 12,000 women and children fall into the clutches of human traffickers every year in Nepal, an non-government organization said here Tuesday.
Very often, Nepalese women and children tend to fall prey to temptations of the crooks and agents because of lack of education, poor financial conditions as well as ignorance, who sell them in various cities in India including brothels, Maiti Nepal Badeghat branch, an non-government organization working for women in Nepal, told reporters.
"Statistics show the women and children are mostly sold in circus and brothels for dangerous jobs," the organization noted.
Although there are non-government organizations galore in Nepal working for preventing women trafficking, it has continued unabated, the organization said.
Maiti Nepal Badeghat has been organizing training for the teen girls to make precautionary measures against human traffickers as well as those women who have suffered from domestic violence and those who are vulnerable to human trafficking, the organization said.
"So far, 300 people have received the training," it said.
