The two-day meeting on commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the victory of the world anti-fascist war and global promotion of China's peaceful reunification closed in Vienna on August 16.

The meeting passed the "Common Declaration on Global Overseas Chinese 'in Defense of World Peace and Promotion of China's Reunification' ".

The "Common Declaration" says that China's independent foreign policy of peace has won universal appreciation from the international community, China's development and mightiness has tremendous appeal and cohesive force to overseas Chinese and foreigners of Chinese origin. On the occasion marking the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese anti-Japanese war and the world anti-fascist war, Chinese sons and daughters who had suffered a great deal in the war regard the "defense of world peace and promotion of China's reunification" as their unshakable goals and tasks.

The "Common Declaration" warns "Taiwan independence" forces in the name of all compatriots participating in the meeting: "Taiwan independence" is an impassable road. The "Common Declaration" calls upon compatriots across the Straits to jointly pitch in the great cause of opposing "independence" and promoting reunification and resolutely combating "Taiwan independence" forces' act of deliberately worsening cross-Strait relations.
