The market research company of CTR releases the newest survey on retail channels in China on August 18. The results of the survey show Carrefour ranks first in retail market occupation rate in 15 main cities, up to 4.7%, overtaking the winner HoYoDo last year. The results also show the pervasive rise of foreign capital retail shops in all respects but the decrease of the domestic retail enterprises in market share.
"These indexes are affected by several factors like the quantity and location of the retail channels, the shopping habit of the consumers, the administration level of the commodity items and the cooperation of the suppliers to measure the performances of the retail channels comprehensively, said Liu Zhipeng, general manager of consumer group CTR.
The results of the survey come from the special research of the CTR consumer regulated group. This is the only successive research of the consumers, through insistent track and inspection of the consumers' daily shopping behavior, thus reflects the choice of the consumers for the short-term commodities and the channels systematically. The survey is carried out in 4 indexes, namely, market share rate, purchase frequency, loyalty and penetration rate to comprehensively assess the performance of the retail channels for the whole 2004 in China.
