Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC), met Friday in Beijing with a delegation headed by Razoarimihaja Solofonantenaina, national chairman of the Tiako I Madagasikara(TIM) , a party of Madagascar.

Jia said China and Madagascar are developing countries, and furthering relations with developing countries has long been a foundation of China's foreign policy.

He noted that China and Madagascar have maintained sound relations and cooperation in all fields as well as in international affairs since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1972.

Jia expressed gratitude to Madagascar for adhering to the one-China policy and supporting China's reunification, saying that China is ready to make joint efforts with Madagascar to upgrade relations to a new stage.

On party relations, Jia said the Communist Party of China(CPC) attaches importance to its relations with the TIM, and hopes to further exchanges in all fields to push forward relations between the two countries.

Razoarimihaja said Madagascar values China's role in the international affairs, and pays great attention to relations with China. He said the TIM would like to promote exchanges with the CPC and learn from it.

He reaffirmed that Madagascar adheres to the one-China policy.
