Senior Chinese official Jia Qinglin Friday calls on Chinese students studying abroad to contribute more to the complete reunification of the motherland and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

"I hope students studying abroad will carry forward the steadfast patriotism of previous generations of students abroad and consciously link their personal development with the future and destiny of the motherland and the nation," Jia, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said during his meeting here with the second term of representatives of heads of organizations of Chinese students abroad.

Jia, who is also the chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, urged Chinese students abroad to offer suggestions on major issues of China's economic and social development, study harder still to promote China's scientific innovative capability and actively promote exchanges between China and other countries in the world.

"Students abroad can play positive roles to make the world better and understand China, and meanwhile help China better understand the world," he said.

Moreover, Jia asked the CPC and government at all levels to create better working and living conditions for returned students.

In the next few days, these representatives of heads of organizations of Chinese students studying abroad are scheduled to visit Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Guizhou provinces in northeast China and northwestern China provinces and regions to examine business environments there and explore ways to enable students abroad to introduce new, high technology and modern management modes to these areas.
