Malaysian exporters should begin to explore new emerging markets, like eastern Europe and Russia, to export their products, a senior Malaysian official said on Monday.
Malaysia's electric and electronic products, autos and palm oil hold the potential in entering these markets, said Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Mah Siew Keong.
Branding is an important marketing tool that Malaysian companies should exploit to make their products accepted globally, and it helps create a significant impact and form a competitive edge to seize and sustain a sizable market share, he said at an export conference.
Malaysia needs to develop strong brands as well as original designs to build consumer loyalty and preferences for Malaysian products, he said, adding brand image is also a significant asset for a company.
The official urged Malaysian companies to invest more in branding, packaging and holding product exhibitions abroad for the future of their own.
