6th Cross-Straits Relations Forum concludes
font size

The two-day 6th Cross-Straits Relations Forum concluded on August 24 at Xiamen International Exhibition Center. Students and young scholars from both sides made in-depth discussions on major issues in the cross-Straits relations under the theme of "communication between youth of the two sides".Attendees to the forum hold that "Taiwan independence" is a dead end and improvement of cross-Straits relations is an irreversible trend as well as a popular will. Anybody who creates hatred and confrontation between the two sides and worsens their relations runs counter to the general trend of peace, development and cooperation and also to people's will, therefore is doomed to fail.

Representing future and hope, youngsters from both sides serve an important force to push forward cross-Straits relations, said Wang Zaixi, deputy director of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. They should join hands and make efforts for regional peace and sound relations. He said that the Chinese mainland will continue to support cross-Straits economic, cultural and personnel exchanges, to encourage Taiwan investment on the mainland by providing concrete aid and service to Taiwan compatriots and protecting their legitimate rights.
