Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held phone talks with Ban Ki-Moon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Friday.
They had an exchange of views of mutual concern on promoting bilateral relations and the six-party talks on Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, according to the ministry.
Earlier this month, the fourth round six-party talks, involving the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the United States, ROK, Russia, Japan and China, entered a three-week recess after 13 consecutive days of consultations. All the parties agreed to resume the talks in the week of Aug. 29.
There has been a flurry of diplomatic activities recently, including the several contacts between the United States and the DPRK. But no specific date has so far been set for the resumption of the talks.
