Official from China's Tibet Autonomous Region meets Nepali FM

An official from China's Tibet Autonomous Region and the Nepali minister for foreign affairs expressed their happiness over the long history of very warm, cordial and cooperative relations between China and Nepal on Friday.

Thundrup, vice chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference of the Tibet Autonomous Region, paid a courtesy call on Nepali Minister for Foreign Affairs Ramesh Nath Pandey at his residence Friday morning.

During the meeting, the two sides also highlighted the need for building on the existing friendly relations between the two countries for the benefit of future generations.

Pandey said the railway linkage between Tibet and other places in China helps Nepal's development, and the prosperity and stability of Tibet contribute not only to peace and development of China and Nepal but also the whole of South Asia.

Thundrup expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China in both countries.

Pandey also congratulated the Tibet Autonomous Region government and the Tibetan people on the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Thundrup is on an official visit to Nepal, leading a youth delegation of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. The delegation arrived in Kathmandu on Aug. 21 and is leaving for Lhasa on Aug. 27.
