China's top legislator to attend IPU meeting, visit Morocco

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo will attend the Second World Conference for Parliamentary Speakers from Sept. 7 to 9 and pay an official goodwill visit to Morocco.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, is invited by Sergio Paez Verdugo, president of the Council, and Anders Johnsson, secretary general of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

At the invitation of Moroccan Chamber of Representatives President Abdeloughed Radi, Wu will pay a three-day official goodwill visit to Morocco from Sept. 4 to 6.

The Second World Conference for Parliamentary Speakers will be held at the headquarters of the United Nations by the IPU as part of the activities to mark the 60th founding anniversary of the United Nations.

Founded in 1889, IPU now has 140 state members.
