Kazakh government backs Chinese oil group's acquisition of PetroKazakhstan

The Kazakh government supports China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC)'s bidding for the acquisition of the energy company PetroKazakhstan(PK), CNPC said in a press release.

During a Friday meeting with CNPC representatives in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan,a senior Kazakh official spoke highly of CNPC's cooperation with the Kazakh side in the oil and natural gas industry in recent years and described CNPC as "our most trustworthy cooperation partner."

The official also congratulated CNPC on its achievements in the bidding process and gave a positive assessment of CNPC's participation in acquiring PK, according to the press release, which was obtained on Sunday.
