Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi here on Monday held talks with visiting Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa on bilateral cooperation of the two countries.
After their talks, the two leaders told journalists that they would do their level best to enhance the good relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister Meles said he held talks with Mkapa on economic relations of the two countries particularly on ways of augmenting cooperation in the tourism sector.
In this regard, various cooperation agreements are due to be signed, according to Meles.
He said the visit by President Mkapa, on one hand, is manifestation of the good relations between the two countries, while on the other hand, the visit could be viewed as a farewell visit by Mkapa, whose second term of presidency is about to end.
President Mkapa on his part said Ethiopia and Tanzania are championing common views on international affairs particularly on Africa's affairs, and his visit would strengthen bilateral cooperation of the two countries.
Mkapa lauded the significant contribution Prime Minister Meles has made to resolve the long-standing political crisis in Burundi, and he expressed hope that the new Tanzanian president would further cooperation between the two countries.
