According to the mobile phone sales ranking for Q2 2005 released by Gartner, the world's leading provider of research and analysis on the global information technology industry, Nokia, Motorola and Samsung maintained their position as top three in mobile phone markets. While Siemens experienced drastic decline, falling from No. 4 to No. 6.
Nokia and Motorola accounted for 49.8 percent of worldwide mobile phone sales in the second quarter of 2005. Nokia's market share grew 2.3 percentage points in the second quarter of 2005 to reach 31.9 percent; Motorola's share grew 2.2 percnet to reach 17.9 percent from same period last year; and Samsung rose 5 percent to 12.8 percent. By comparison Siemens' market share declined 2.2 percent from same period last year. Its sales dropped from 10, 822,900 to 8, 894,800.
