Trial of Zhao Yan case to open in Buffalo

Trial of the Zhao Yan case, in which US immigration officer Robert Rhodes is suspected of beating Chinese citizen Zhao Yan on July 22, 2004, is set to open in Buffalo on August 29, 2005.

The victim Zhao Yan arrived Buffalo on Aug 28, 2005 from Chicago.

One year after the incident, Zhao Yan met the public in Buffalo for first time. She says she trusts American judicial system and believes justice will be done. The US Federal Government charged immigration officer Robert Rhodes with power abuse and use of violence. He will face a ten-year prison term if convicted of the crime.
