China would like to maintain contact and consultation with Mozambique on UN reform, said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in a meeting with Mozambique Prime Minister Luisa Diogo in Beijing Thursday.
The two sides exchanged views on the reform of the United Nations. Wen said China supports the UN and UN Security Council reform, and its stance on supporting the African countries to play a more important role in the UN Security Council remained unchanged.
Diogo said Mozambique would like to maintain consultations with China on the UN reform.
Wen said the relations between China and Mozambique have been based on Chinese people's support to Mozambique people in striving for the country's independence, as well as on the Mozambique government's adherence to the one-China policy.
He said China appreciates the Mozambique new government's attention to strengthen relations with China, noting China values relations with Mozambique, and will promote political contact and cooperation on development of agriculture, resources, water conservancy, fishery and culture and sports.
Diogo expressed gratitude for China's long-term support to Mozambique, saying that the Mozambique government will continue to adhere to the one-China policy, and would like to enhance cooperation on economy, trade, water resources, fishery, and other fields.
