China on Thursday indicated that there is still no specific time for the resumption of six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.
"China is working with other parties on the timetable," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang.
Qin said the parties concerned have conducted extensive consultations and dialogue during the recess of talks, which failed to resume as scheduled in the week of Aug. 29. But the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) agreed to rejoin the talks in the week of Sept. 12.
"These (negotiations and dialogue) are also an important part of the six-party talks process and will help increase mutual understanding," said Qin.
"The date of resuming the talks is not important, the important thing is all the parties agreed to resume the talks and we all have kept contact and negotiation in the framework of the six-party talks," said Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei after a recent visit to the DPRK.
