Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga made a whirlwind visit to Shanghai Thursday at the end of her four-day state visit to China.

President Kumaratunga held talks with Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng and the two pledged to further economic exchanges and cooperation.

Statistics showed that the total trade volume between Shanghai and Sri Lanka reached over 70 million US dollars, up 30 percent compared with last year.

Kumaratunga started her state visit to China on Tuesday at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
