A Chinese Movie Week aiming to improve culture exchange between China and Thailand was unveiled at Bangkok on Thursday afternoon in the 30th year of the establishment of Sino-Thai diplomatic relationship.
"The (Chinese) Movie Week is a significant event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Sino-Thai relations," said the Thai Education Minister Chaturon Chaisaeng at the opening ceremony.
He said that cultures of the two countries have integrated with each other harmoniously for a long time due to contacts between the two peoples back to hundreds of years ago.
"Several generations of Chinese have immigrated and lived in Thailand permanently over hundreds of years, which have improved culture exchange and friendship between Thailand and China," said the minister.
He hoped the movie week event would improve exchanges between the younger generation of the two countries, hailing "long life the Sino-Thai friendship" in Chinese.
A total of six Chinese movies, both on contemporary and historical stories, would be showed at 11 times at the EGV Metropolis cinema in downtown Bangkok.
In a bid to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the two countries ' relationship, a series of events have been unveiled in both countries, such as Thai Culture Week in China and Chinese Contest in Thailand.
