Carrefour sees 5 mln. euro worth of Chinese goods blocked

A senior official with the French retail giant Carrefour said on September 1 since Chinese garment exports exceeded the EU's quota this year Carrefour has had imported goods worth of about 5 million euro blocked at the customs.

CEO of Carrefour Mr. Duran said at a press conference that as many of the retailers who sent their orders in the first and second quarters Carrefour is affected by the blockage. However, the impact is not egregious. Mr. Duran said the blocked goods were originally ordered for several Carrefour stores in the European continent.

After Chinese exports exceeded the quotas the EU set in June Chinese woolen sweaters, bras and other garments worth millions of euro have been blocked by the EU customs.
