Chinese, ASEAN legal experts sign Nanning Declaration

Participants of the China-ASEAN forum on legal cooperation and development adopted the "Nanning Declaration" at Friday's session.

They agreed to increase dialogue, exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and ASEAN legal circle.

More than 100 Chinese and ASEAN legal experts gathered here to attend the China-ASEAN forum on legal cooperation and development which opened here Thursday.

Participants agreed in the declaration to make the forum a platform for high-level dialogue between governments, legal circles and business groups in China and ASEAN.

The forum will create a favorable legal environment in which commercial firms can coexist and achieve win-win result in the course of growth, boost human resources development and training of legal personnel and promote understanding of legal documents made in China and ASEAN.

According to the declaration, legal circles of China and ASEAN should hold regular meetings and discussions to look into major legal issues in the fields of politics, economy, society and culture.

The forum plans to set up a research and training center to enhance the research ability of legal personnel in China and ASEAN, the declaration says.

During the current forum, sponsored by the China Law Society, participants held in-depth discussion on topics such as the role of law in promoting the development of the China-ASEAN free trade area (FTA), and comparison of legal systems on economy and trade between China and ASEAN.
