The Chinese armed forces hope to bring their relationship with Malaysian armed forces to a new high," said Cao Gangchuan, Chinese minister of National Defense, at a meeting in Beijing Friday with his Malaysian counterpart Najib Tun Razak.
Cao, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, said China-Malaysia friendship has endured great international changes ever since the two established diplomatic relations 31 years ago.
He said the two countries now trust and cooperate with each other and have reached wide consensus on a number of international and regional issues.
Cao thanked Najib, also Malaysian deputy prime minister, for his country's adherence to the one-China policy and told him Chinese armed forces are willing to continue their efforts to consolidate and develop ties with Malaysian armed forces.
Najib said Malaysia will stick to the one-China policy and contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefits.
Malaysia's defense administration and armed forces also desire to develop the friendship with the Chinese army, he said.
