font size

Chinese President Hu Jintao on Saturday called for promoting the peaceful coexistence of different civilizations to draw upon each other's strengths.

In this way, the people of the world could offset their weaknesses, thus achieving common development and making the world more colorful, Hu said.

The president made the remarks in his speech at a gathering held in the Great Hall of the People in central Beijing to commemorate the Chinese people's victory in the war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the victory of the world anti-fascist war.
